I am currently working on one of the hardest projects I’ve ever had in my professional life. This is more than a stretch assignment: this is a stretch until I’m almost ready to snap assignment. Unfortunately, my way of dealing with it so far has been avoidance followed by allowing myself to get distracted from it very easily when I do work on it. This little ‘system’ isn’t really working.

So I turn to you for advice: how do you deal with very difficult work assignments? In particular, how do you make process on tasks when you have no prior knowledge or experience to begin from? How do you apply yourself when all you want to do is run away? (Or is that just me?)

Any and all thoughts, links, recommendations and ideas are welcome!
